Here’s how it works…

FIRST: Gather up your Swap items: women’s clothes, accessories, jewelry, handbags and shoes
Items must be in very good condition, delivered on hangers

THEN: Drop off your swap items the day before (date and time to be announced) at the Church’s Fellowship Hall or bring on the day of the event.

ON October 25: Come to the Swap, bring your family and friends.
$25 Donation All proceeds go to Sinterklaas! our annual community-wide winter celebration!

Grumpus Making Workshops

Join us in making  jumbo cardboard Grumpus heads for the annual Sinterklaas Send-Off parade that takes place on November 26th in Kingston this year.  If  you love creating imaginary works out of cardboard, paint, glue, and  shellac, this is the right place for you.

Sinterklaas Star Party

WHAT: The Star Party, Annual Fundraiser & Celebration

WHEN: Saturday November 9, 2019 — 5:30-7:30pm

The annual Sinterklaas Kick-off Party is scheduled for Saturday November 9 and you are invited!

There is something fishy about the Illustrious Star Party this year! Our most elegant gathering of the year at which the Snow King and Queen Bring the Celestial Flame to light the First Star that is presented by the Star Child to the Keepers of the Flame; the announcement of the new Family who act as Holders of the Flame for the Sinter Season. Stories, dances, live music, prizes and much, much more! Libations and Hors d’oeuvres are served. Our biggest fundraiser of the year! All welcome! Donation: $50

Kingston Crowns & Branches Workshops

When: Saturday, November 18, 1:00-4:00pm

Where: Kingston Library, 55 Franklin St., Kingston

Where every child becomes a King or Queen as they create their 
own crowns and branches and make their wishes.
For children of all ages (must be accompanied by an adult) 
The workshops are free, but donations are welcome.

Children create their own Crowns and Branches to carry in the Parade on Sinterklaas Day when  the children become Kings and Queens with their handmade decorated crowns and royalty with their branches representing the Royal Scepter. Hundreds of handsome branches will be laid out alongside lots of beautiful and fanciful materials—jewels, ribbons, glitter, lace, streamers, — with which the children can can create their Royal garb!

Dad fits a newly made crown!

Stop by Fiberflame for this drop-in workshop where kids can make SINTERKLAAS CROWNS to wear on the festival days. Parents and children are invited to co-create (the kids may need your help with some of the materials and tools!) crowns.

Crowns are a traditional part of the Hudson Valley Sinterklaas Celebration where children are elevated to royalty and the adults have the opportunity to honor our most precious ones!

Sinterklaas Celebration Space: Crowns & Branches Plus Puppet Workshops

Open to the community

Each year we begin the preparations for Sinterklaas Festival Day with fun activities for all. Crowns & Branches as well as the Puppet Workshop are open to the community and free of charge; donations are welcome. Children & adults welcome. Lots of fun. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All individuals must wear a mask while attending the workshops. PAID FOR IN PART BY DUTCHESS COUNTY!

PUPPETMAKING WORKSHOPS

Join Sinterklaas puppeteers Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles for workday sessions to restore, remake, and create puppets for the Starlight Parade! Help us make this year’s honored animals, the Mouse and the Frog! Bring color back to the Turtle! Give luster to the Peace Dove!

LOCATION

For everyone’s safety, this year’s work sessions will be held at Processional Arts’ barn workshop, an open, semi-outdoor space (bundle up!), and will be open by appointment to small groups of vaccinated adults and masked/vaccinated kids (age 8 and up) interested in helping out.

Sinterklaas Festival Day in RHINEBECK

Join us on Saturday December 4, 2021, Rhinebeck, New York

Sinterklaas is a day-long, colorful celebration that features children’s workshops, dance, theatre and music all over the village of Rhinebeck. Don’t miss the Dancing Bear, the Pocket Lady, and Mother Holly. The spectacular Children’s Starlight Parade at 6:00 pm, featuring two-story tall, animated puppets carried by hundreds of volunteers, closes the day at twilight. A non-denominational event, Sinterklaas joins residents and visitors alike, people of all ages and backgrounds, in a memorable celebration of children, art, and the light of the winter season.

FIND parking lots at the Northern Dutchess Hospital, at the Rhinebeck High School, at the Highway Department (W. Market St., 0.3 miles west of the Starr Library), and behind the Starr Library.

Be sure to grab a program booklet when you arrive so you know the whole story of Sinterklaas in the Mid-Hudson Valley. It will make for an even richer experience! Visit the ASK ME Ladies’ table in the center of town by the Beekman Arms.
